History and Charism
Christ the King Bass Hill is a long established Catholic Community. On 29 January 1957, Josephite Sister Patricia O’Brien and postulant Sister Assunta arrived at Bass Hill to establish a school. Together with the parish priests, the early community strived to create a welcoming, warm environment for the students of the parish.
Our early educators were strong Catholics who demonstrated values of persistence and integrity and they have provided us with a deep community spirit which we celebrate today. At Christ the King we continue to learn about and celebrate our Josephite tradition inspired by the charism of St Mary of The Cross Mackillop, where in the words of Saint Mary of the Cross, ‘We must teach more by example than by word.’ (1867)

The school and parish have a strong partnership. Our parish priest, Father Dinesh Macwan works closely with the school. Together, our faith filled community strives to work as one in planning and celebrating the Liturgy, Sacraments, parish/school fete and Christmas carols. Our community has a deep devotion to Christ the King and Saint Mary of the Cross Mackillop.
